Do you ever think about it? You are out and about and a Tornado Warning hits. What do you do? If you are are at work or school there is a designated space.

If you are at home you probably have a plan as well. What if you are at a local amusement park? What do you do? I happen to know the answer.

As luck would have it I use to take my daughter out to Wonderland Park a lot when she was little. It was one of her favorite places to go. There was one day we went out for Amarillo College's night at the park. I was an employee there back then.

There we were, me, my daughter, and my best friend Ami, just having a good ol' time out at Wonderland Park.  The weather started to move in. So first we all huddled in the food area under the awnings. Then it happened, the dreaded sound of the tornado sirens. I wasn't sure what to do.

The employees sure did. They encourage everyone to get to this location:

Wait. That is the Texas Tornado! Yep, they wanted us to go into the tunnel. I mean I am sure that they knew what they were talking about. I bet they knew underground was the safest place.

I get it. I do. I just can't see myself running to a ride named AFTER the exact situation that is making it's way to Amarillo. Sure go run and hide from the Texas Tornado IN the Texas Tornado.

I was talking to owner, Paul Borchardt, the other day just to confirm this is still the same practice. It is. I do know that this is the safest place. I, that day years ago, chose to get in my car and drive home. Besides the tornado was closer to Soncy so I knew we were safe.

I just appreciated  the irony in it all.
