This is a stat that is great to see. According to the CDC, cigarette smoking in the U.S. has actually just hit an all-time low. Gone are the days where a lot of people think it looks cool to smoke.

Now it seems more and more people think it looks cooler and smells better not to smoke. I would have to think that a lot of the ordinances making smoking illegal in different places had to help.

It used to be if you go out to hear live music on the weekend you would no doubt have to go home and shower just to get the smell of smoke out of your clothes and hair. As more and more businesses stopped allowing smoking in their establishments it not only made it healthier for non-smokers with all the second hand smoke....but it made it better for the smokers too. They had to go somewhere outside to smoke and sometimes depending on the weather that wasn't worth it.

In 2018, 13.7% of adults smoked one or more cigarettes a day. That is nothing compared to the 42.4% of Americans that smoked back in 1965 As of last year 3.9% of adults either smoked cigars or turned to 3-cigarettes.

It seems that a lot of cigarette smokers really are trying to quit. They see the health issues that smoking causes. Those smokers are more likely to try to quit now then they ever have in the past. So here is to all the quitters out there. Let's keep those numbers going down.
