Foods To Avoid Here In Amarillo For Your Mental Health
The month of January is quickly slipping away from us. How are you doing on your weight loss/eating healthy goals?
I know it can be tough especially if you have a bad day. When that happens the one thing you want to do is eat your feelings. Take a hold of that comfort food and dive right in. I know we have all been there.
The crazy thing is to know and recognize that there are some food that actually triggers depression. You need to avoid them as much as possible.
You need to avoid junk food as much as possible. I know it seems to be all around us! From donuts, cookies and even chips. They are so comforting but can add problems to you especially if you don't get enough nutrients in your diet. Your body needs things like magnesium, fatty acids, B-6, and B-12. If you don't get enough and load up on the junk food; it can create a chemical imbalance in your brain.
You also need to avoid Trans Fat. Recognized that the main source is partially hydrogenated oil, which you will find in a lot of those delicious, but equally bad for you, fried foods. You can also find it in other foods, such as frozen pizzas, microwave popcorn and cake frosting.
Another thing you need to try to stay away from is the artificial sweeteners. Fake sugars like Aspartame might save calories, but they can be horrible for your mood. You can end up with a major headache and even insomnia. Neither of those do any good for your mental health.
I am not saying to cut out any of these things but definitely try to cut back on them as much as possible. It will also help if you eat more healthy foods to counteract the bad stuff you end up not being able to say "no" to.
