Let There Be Sunlight To Keep You Healthy!
You want to do whatever you can to keep your family healthy? Right? Here is probably one of the easiest things you can do.
To be honest...I can't believe I have never heard of this before.
A study was done at the University of Oregon and they found out that just opening your blinds in the morning can help kill half of the bacteria floating around in your house. Crazy huh? Oh and the sunlight can also boost your mood.
So the science behind this is that about 12% of that bacteria that is floating around in your dark room is able to reproduce. Once the blinds are open and the sunlight comes in than reproduction drops to about 6%.
Another good tip is that a lot of that bacteria is linked to certain respiratory diseases. So during flu season it may be even more important to let the sunlight in.
There is still more research being done to determine if opening your blinds can help fight a cold....but at this point it sure can't hurt.
The other great takeaway is that the extra sunlight can indeed give you a boost in Vitamin D.
So don't be afraid to open those blinds and let the sunshine in.....it can improve your health and mood.
