Lone Star Ballet Says Show Won’t Go On
Everyone was hoping to have Christmas in February. There is never a bad time for the Christmas cheer. We found out in November that the Lone Star Ballet’s Nutcracker was going to have to reschedule their normal Christmas performance.
That was around the time that the Amarillo Civic Center had made the tough decision to shut down everything at their location. So the Lone Star Ballet had to push the performance back. That was their hope. They wanted to still share their holiday cheer. Even if it was in February.
When they made the decision to reschedule they picked the last weekend in February. The hope was that everything would be back to normal and the show would be able to go on. The announcement came out recently to let us know that would not be the case.
According to their Facebook page they made this announcement:
On-going High Covid rates dictate that LSB's " The Nutcracker " be cancelled. BUT, LSB is pleased to announce that our most popular Production, " Time Steps " will go on, April 16th & 17th. The Best in Music Favorites combined with the Best in Dance!
I understand their decision. It is the worst for all the performers who have put their heart and soul into continuing the long and grueling practices. They had to be prepared in case the news was good. So I feel really bad for them oh and for us who are missing out on their great performance.
At least there is some light at the end of the tunnel with the announcement that they are getting ready for Time Steps. We will just have to cling to that. It is another great performance we won't want to miss.
