I remember this place all too well. It was one of those fast, go-to places when I was pregnant with my daughter. Oh, and it was good. The mashed potatoes, the dinner rolls. Oh and I always had either the chicken fried steak or chicken fried chicken.

The place I am talking about is Grandy's. Do you remember when we had two of them here in Amarillo? One on 45th and Teckla and the other one was I40 and Ross. They seemed to be a staple here. Then just one day they were gone. Both of them.

Oh but they have several of them still in the Dallas area. So when I go to visit my daughter we have to go at least once. We just love their home cooked meals not cooked at home.

What is crazy to me is that they have a full menu. I don't think I have ever really looked at it. I will be honest. I always have the same things every time I go.

I either get the chicken fried chicken or the chicken fried steak. That is the only way I mix it up. Otherwise I get the mashed potatoes with gravy, and the okra. Each meal comes with two dinner rolls.

Those meals may look a little rough but that is only because when I carried the bag into my daughter's apartment the boxes may have been mishandled. Oh but they still taste as great as I remember.

Do you miss having Grandy's here in Amarillo? Have you been to one after they both left us here in Amarillo? Would you love to get one back?
