Review: New Downtown Amarillo Restaurant Valore
Over the weekend a new restaurant opened in Downtown Amarillo. At first it was for to-go orders only. Then they decided to go ahead and open up their dining room. I decided I wanted to give it a try.
One of my goals this year is to try to eat at more of the new places is Amarillo. So I am starting the year off with a bang. My first new restaurant to write about and the first one I will try. I called in my order at Valore Italian Restaurant and Grill and then headed down to pick it up.
I got to check out the dining room. Since it wasn't open when I went in, there were no tables sat of course.
I headed home with my food after talking with the staff just a bit. They seemed very friendly. Both when I called to place my order and then when I went in to grab it. I decided that I wanted to try a couple different meals. This way I had food for dinner that night and lunch the next day.
First I ordered the meat Stromboli. I had no idea just how huge it was going to be. So I actually snacked on that throughout the night. The crust was light and fluffy. I loved it. It had all the meats. Huge chunks of ground sausage, hamburger, huge Canadian bacon and the mozzarella cheese was on point. I could tell they only used the freshest ingredients. They served it with marinara for dipping. This was totally fabulous. I even had a little left over for breakfast the next morning. Don't judge. Look how big it is, I added that fork for comparison.
I also chose the Italiano Special pasta dish. I figured that was going to be good to reheat the next day. I did take one bite when I got home just so I could say I tried it fresh. It had a great taste to it too. Very flavorful. This dish has grilled chicken with penne pasta, spinach, mushrooms, artichokes, fresh garlic, tomatoes with a special blend of cheeses. I chose this because it didn't have a cream sauce. Oh the flavor was great. My only complaint is I wished it had a little more chicken. It was a great meal though.
I wanted to try the cannoli. I grew up eating those in my Italian neighborhood in Chicago. So yeah. I was going to try them. If you haven't had a cannoli they are a rolled and fried crisp shell filled with white chocolate cream. I did really enjoy them. A good choice.
So overall I was happy with my visit to Valore. Will I go back again? I would probably say yes. They are located at 900 S Tyler in Downtown Amarillo.
