I mean even if you have to fake it until you make it. A smile can do so much for your mood. It can do so much for your attitude. Right now that is what we all need. An attitude adjustment is what is called for.
I mean here is the thing you need to know about a smile....it should be one of the most important things you put on every day. Even if it ends up being a fake smile. That is just OK.
A fake smile can actually help you get out of a bad mood. It seems weird but think about it. The moment you smile you feel a lot better about things. All of a sudden the sky seems bluer the sun seems brighter and all of that. Even if that smile is fake.
Why is that? It's because you brain reads that muscle movement you make when you are smiling and then it goes to work. Your brain releases neurotransmitters that end up encouraging your emotions to look on the sunny side of things.
So maybe you are not having the greatest of days that is OK. Maybe you got into a fender bender on I-40 or the drive thru at Starbucks took you a bit longer. Hey you meant to leave earlier but it didn't happen. Now you are late for work. Guess what. Grab that great coffee, head into a work with a smile on your face. You got this.
