Have you had a little harder time sleeping through the pandemic? If you have well just know that you are not alone. We have been finding ourselves worrying a lot more. Less sleep, though, really does us no good. In fact it makes it easier for us to get sick. Our immune system starts to get compromised.

Really when I don't get enough sleep that is the time I know that I am going to get sick. I know my body. I know that if I just take a day and sleep that I will feel much better. It's just one of those things I know about myself.

So how do we find a way to sleep if we are worrying about stuff? Well first of all we need to just turn off the news. We need to step back a bit from social media. We need, for our own health, to shut things off. Especially an hour or so before bed. How are wwe expected to sleep with our minds racing? We can't.

Do you feel that you sleep better when you eat healthier. Yes it is true. It really is easier to sleep if our stomach is not all bloated. If we are not tossing and turning all night. So cut out some of the fried foods especially at dinner. Your brain and body will thank you for it.

The same goes for exercising. You will find yourself able to sleep a lot better if you work out. It will help you feel tired so that is good. Sometimes just wearing yourself out is the answer. It's also that your body feels all around better and that helps you sleep too.

How are your pillows? Do they give your head the correct support? I am a side sleeper and I invested in these firm gel filled pillows that really do make a difference. I do not wake up with a sore neck. I also don't toss and turn to get the support I need. Making that investment really can help.

I am the first to admit that sometimes I just have to take an over-the-counter sleep aid. I don't try to rely on them. Sometimes it is just what my body needs. I make sure I take them early enough that I get enough sleep and I don't wake up all groggy. Waking up with medicine head is probably worse than getting no sleep at all. At least that is the way I feel the next morning.
