806 Health Tip: When You Should Skip Dessert
This time of the year we have passed all the holiday cheer. Our families may have gone home. It's just back to the day in and day out of our regular schedule. It is dark earlier and the temperatures drop.
So it's no wonder that with all of this going on at once we can't help but feel a little bit on the depressed side. There is a way, though, to get over those winter blues but it is not for the faint of heart.
Well it's really not for those of us that like to have our cake and eat it too. You can avoid those feelings of despair by cutting out sweets. There I said it. See, I didn't say it would be easy.
All of those sugary treats can lead to "metabolic, inflammatory, and neurobiological processes that are connected to depression and negative feelings."
So if you add in all of those sweet and sugary treats and add that to the lack of sunshine that this time of year has....it can lead to depression.
So to cut down on that feeling of being down in the dumps you just will have to say no to that piece of cake or scoop of ice cream you were SO looking forward to. I didn't say it would be easy but it could be that boost you need.
