Melissa in The Morning: An Amarillo Birthday for this Chicago Girl

When you grow up in the South Side of Chicago and move to Canyon, TX when you are twelve. Well there are some things you just don't understand at the time.

You do not realize that you are moving to a place without Major League Baseball. You don't realize you will miss the Brookfield and Lincoln Park Zoos or the Shedd Aquarium.  You also don't realize you will miss how the snow is plowed in time for morning commute to school.

Oh and you really don't realize all the food you will miss out on. I mean this was a long time ago when I moved to Texas.

So when I went back to Chicago a couple years ago I was reminded about just how good the pizza is there. Lo and behold you can now order and have it delivered to your house. I always talked about doing just that. I just haven't gotten around to it. Then here came my birthday and a delivery from my mom.

You guessed it. A Taste of Chicago. Literally. I have 4 deep dish as awesome as can be pizzas for me to savor. Four pizzas from Lou Malnati's in Chicago. I keep telling myself that birthday calories don't count. Correct?
