This has been a crazy time. It seems everyone is getting sick. Whether you get the flu or just a cold. All the sickness is going around.

It doesn't matter how old you are actually. As soon as you start feeling it come on you wish for those days when you were a kid. Crawling in bed and letting mom take care of you.

There is some comfort in that. Mom is always there for you. Even now. You may be an adult and out of the house but most people still find themselves calling dear ol' mom when they get sick.

When we do we are looking for comfort and advice. Mom knows it all. She will tell you to go see a doctor. She will tell you to gargle with warm salt water. She will tell you to eat some chicken noodle soup and go get some rest.

Mom has all the good advice. So it is no surprise that 12% of adults say they do in fact make that call.

A survey given also found out that 61% of people say they take over-the-counter medicine. A trip to the doctor is the choice of 44% of the participants. A whopping 19% just ignore the illness and hopes it goes away. I definitely would not recommend that.

If you want to avoid getting sick this time of year. There are some things you can do to help. Try drinking more fluids, up your vitamin C intake. Definitely try to get more sleep. Oh and wash your hands A LOT! Avoid touching your face, mouth and nose. You can be on your way to a healthier cold and flu season.
