I love driving around Downtown Amarillo and catching a glimpse of all of the beautiful murals we have now. They are making their way to other parts of Amarillo as well.

This is a great thing for our city. Our Downtown is really coming to life. Not only have we brought back the Barfield, but there's a good chance that we'll have the Herring once again. We're taking care of our historic buildings and adding some much-needed color to the area.

The Hoodoo Mural Festival has been a big part of this. This is a local festival held every October that showcases all the great additions to our city's landscape. Early on in the process they look for businesses that would like a mural.

One that jumped at the chance was Yolo's Restaurant. They recently opened up a location downtown and knew that they had just the right spot on their building for a mural. According to their Facebook page, it seems like the festival organizers agree.

I went on to Google Maps to take a look at Yolo's building and that is some prime real estate right there!

Malcolm is also the artist of that beautiful mural right across the street with the girl in yellow. So, I think it's safe to say that the empty canvas of a wall on the side of Yolo's is about to become something fabulous.

I reached out to the folks at Hoodoo Mural Festival to try to find out what other businesses have been chosen. Maybe I'll hear back, maybe we'll just have to wait and see!

October 1st is the date of this year's festival. You can get tickets for the fun HERE.

I really can't wait to see more of the area with murals. This is a great thing for our city.
