806 Health Tip: We Are All Addicted To Our Phones
One thing I can safely admit to is that I am addicted to my phone. How about you? My phone even lets me know just how addicted I am. It will give me a report every week telling me how much I am on it.
I mean when I spend over 5 hours a day on average that is a bad sign. Of course a lot of that is work related. I am either on a work call, a zoom meeting, or posting on social media for work.
Are you guilty of constantly checking your phone? I know I am guilty of checking my phone a bit more than I feel I should. I try to feel better about it by saying it's because my daughter has moved 5 hours away from me. What if she needs me?
Well she hasn't really. Oh and she knows that even if my phone is on "Do Not Disturb" she can still get a hold of me if she calls. She is on my Favorites list. So I don't need to check it anytime I wake up in the middle of the night. I do it though.
Apparently I am not alone. According to a new survey 26% of adults do just that. They check their phones at least once during the night.
Do you keep your phone near your bed? A lot of us do. I say it's because that is my alarm clock. Though, my Apple Watch really wakes me up every morning. Still the phone being near is common. A whopping 62% keep it in reach.
When you wake up in the morning what is the first thing you do? Do you reach for your phone? To check Facebook, texts, and emails. Yep, I sure do. I am also not alone here. Another 23% are in that same boat.
The part that we really need to look at are our kids. Especially if they are younger. This survey has found that 39% of kids wish we would put our phones down. They just want us to spend more time with them. That is until they become teenagers and have their own phone addiction.
