This is Texas. I know that! I love having a big ol' juicy steak. A nice hamburger every once in a while too. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

There are times that you just want to grab something a little less meaty. The trick though is you still want to feel full. Protein is a big part of feeling full throughout the day. Meat is usually the go to protein.

If you are trying to eat a little less meat here are some chain restaurants that we have in Amarillo that can help.

If you are heading to Wendy's you can grab their Cheese Baked Potato. Everything is better with cheese. I know it's not an entree but you can start adding the toppings and it can be a meal right there.

Five Guys' has a Custom Grilled Cheese. Add to it any toppings you want including grilled onions or even grilled mushrooms and this is NOT your momma's grilled cheese.

Taco Bell has a 7-Layer Burrito. Vegetarians have been grabbing one of these since 1993. What is not to love? Beans, rice, guacamole, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream. Talk about a very filling meal right there.

If you want to talk burgers we have two different places you can go. Carl's Jr. has The Beyond Famous Star. It's a plant-based burger that came out back in January. It is made with Beyond Meat, which uses peas instead of soy. It is cooked on an open flame so you get that taste of it being charbroiled.

The newest burger to add to the list is Burger King's Impossible Whopper. It tastes just like a whopper even though it is meatless. So there are options.
