806 Health: Times That Fat Is Good To Have On Your Body
I know we want to have a decent looking body. We want to be healthy. We want to be in shape. We want all of this. We want fat to be the part that we get rid of....that is not necessarily a good thing.
Having some fat is important. Having a little padding can actually be a bit on the useful side.
Fat is where energy is stored. So when you need energy to get through a rough day. Our bodies search for the fat that we store. When your body is at rest our fat provides 60% of the energy you need. It provides even more than that when you're active.
On a cold day it sure helps to have some fat on our body. Fat is what insulates our bodies and keeps our core temperature on the normal side.
Fat is where you store your T-cells. What exactly are T-cells? That is the type of white blood cell that helps your body fight off diseases. That body fat that you have on you is full of those T-cells.
The body fat you have also helps you store key nutrients. You want to make sure you don't run out of them. The vitamins A, D, E and K are stored in your fat tissues. You will get some vitamins from food and even from getting sun but when we don't we rely on the vitamins stored in our fat to get us through.
Fat also acts as a shock absorber with our vital organs. Just think if we worked off ALL of our fat and didn't have any; we would not be in good shape. We would actually be prone to more injuries.
So even though we want to be in tip-top shape. I get that but there is a reason to have some fat stick around.
